GamesIndustry.biz - 30th April 2002

GamesIndustry.biz has interviewed Geraint Bungay, head of Games at BT Openworld, one of our larger clients.

GI: How important is community management (as opposed to technical management) in an operation like this?
GB: Incredibly. We are very lucky to have a company such as AlienPants running our community management, without quality community management an online game service soon starts to fragment and fall apart. Online gaming is all about community in my opinion, but every community needs focal points and leaders, people who are willing to work on behalf of the community as a whole, if you have bad, or no, people on this your service will soon suffer.

The team have many ex-Barrysworld and XSReality employees among their number, but AlienPants' role isn't just to offer troubleshooting - they're also planning to organise regular leagues and tournaments."
