| Boots Campaign Wins Award | - 14/05/07 | | For Christmas 2005 AlienPants worked with a number of other companies to implement a marketing campaign for the high street chain Boots. The marketing campaign involved integrating interactive TV with SMS text messaging. AlienPants' role was to provide the integration between the interactive TV platform and the outgoing SMS service.
The campaign was a success, and has won an award!
Red Bee Media Wins BIMA Award for Best Use of Interactive Television December 1, 2006
Red Bee Media has won the award for Best Use of Interactive Television at this year's BIMA Awards for its campaign for Boots last Christmas. The British Interactive Media Association (BIMA) represents the diverse interests of the UK interactive industry throughout Europe. The Best Use of Interactive Television Award recognises a brilliantly executed project which has appeared on interactive television.
Red Bee Media's winning campaign helped viewers choose Christmas gifts and then sent them their Christmas shopping list via text message. It ran on all UK channels and supported the Boots' 'Giving Feels Good this Christmas' linear commercial.
Digital viewers could access the interactive campaign by pressing the red button on the linear commercial. They were then taken through to a Boots Gift Idea Generator where they were given five different recipient types - for him, her, kids, teens, grandparents - with five sub-profiles for the person they are buying for including glamour girl, gadget lover, keen cook and party animal. Under each category, three gifts are suggested that all feature in the 3 for 2 Mix & Match range. There is also a lucky dip category for viewers who want a quick and easy gift suggestion. When viewers have finished selecting their presents a text message is sent to their mobile phone listing the gifts to make Christmas shopping even easier.
Red Bee Media worked with Boots' advertising agency, Mother, media planning agency, Naked Communications and media buying agency, Mediacom, from the start of the creative and planning process to ensure that the interactive campaign was fully integrated with the linear commercial.
Research conducted by Continental Research found that three quarters of the people who pressed the red button and interacted with the campaign said they visited Boots to buy Christmas presents as a result.
"We are delighted to receive this award. Our understanding of digital communication channels allowed us to create a truly integrated campaign. Boots recognised the opportunities offered by interactive TV and wanted its i-ad to build on the messages conveyed in its linear commercial. Thanks to Mediacom, Mother and Naked Communications for helping us to create a fabulous i-ad. We took Christmas Shopping to a whole new level!" said Jonathan Wilson, Senior Account Director at Red Bee Media. Congratualtions Red Bee! We're glad we could be of assistance in this now award-winning campaign. | |
