Prior to the iPhone’s launch in the UK I was keen to buy one. I blogged about iPhone’s official announcement and explained the reason why I wouldn’t buy one and Steve posted his reasons for not buying one as well.
I just read a news report about iPhone activations in the UK and the number is quite low considering the hype, twenty-six thousand iPhones have been activated since the device went on sale. While the number of units sold is low, the actual amount of money Apple and o2 are making from iPhone sales is pretty good.
The iPhone costs £269 and you have to take out an 18month contract which is priced at £35, £45 or £55 per month. If you do the maths, then you’ll notice Apple and o2 are making a killing. 26,000 iPhones @ £269.00 is nearly £7Million pounds, while 26,000 activations @ £35 per month works out at just over nine-hundred thousand pounds per month. That should, at least keep the Millennium Dome branded in o2 colours for a while…
There is A LOT of speculation on the internet about a second-generation iPhone and if these rumours turn out to be true, then I’ll buy an iPhone.
If Apple is working on a second-gen iPhone then I really do hope they release the iPhone with 3G, video recording capabilities, removable battery, 5Megapixel camera and a larger touch-pad – it is VERY EASY to make typo’s. Oh, it would be good if the new iPhone was enabled with a mobile wallet… I think that’s it, if I can think of any other additional features then I’ll update this post. What features would you like and want in a second-gen iPhone?
I had an issue uploading a twenty minute media file to Facebook and YouTube, however, I finally managed to find a site that doesn’t have any restrictions like Facebook and YouTube.
The media restrictions on Facebook and YouTube are as follows:
Facebook YouTube
Video length: 15minutes 10minutes
Media Size: 300MB 100MB
I’ve uploaded the Sex Pistol’s media to Kyte. I’m thinking about creating a media page on my blog, so all of the videos I record can be located in one place. For the moment, you can watch the media via my Kyte channel.
I’ll be back on the 25th November. I’ll have very limited access to the internet. If there is anything urgent, call me or send me an email and I’ll try to respond as quickly as possible.
F.A.O. Wayne: I’m in your neck of the woods for the next week, give me a shout so we can go for a beer or three…

I titled this blog post KV 62 because it pinpoints the location of Tutankhamun’s tomb in the Valley of the Kings.
I’ve watched a lot of documentary’s on Egyptology via the National Geographic channel and I’ve always had a keen interest in ancient Egypt. I decided to take my mother to see the Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs exhibition at the o2.
The exhibition was really good and the way it started was pretty cool. You get ushered into a darkened room with a few television screens - the rules of the exhibit are explained i.e. no food, drink or photography – a ninety second program begins, narrated by Omar Sharif and then the tour around the exhibit begins. Everything begins in darkness then one beam of light showcases a golden figuring in-cased in glass. That was quite cool. I won’t write anymore about the exhibition because you should experience it for yourselves, that’s if you’re interested in history.
When I get back to the UK in early ‘08, I’m most likely going to plan a trip to Egypt. I think a cruise on the River Nile would be suitable.
… who you gonna call? Ghostbusters.
The Ghostbuster’s game is confirmed, sweet.
Last week I went to the launch party of Guitar Hero 3. There was a press conference from one of the Sex Pistols, John Lydon aka Jonny Rotten. The event turned out to be entertaining and I met a few cool people. I met Luke who runs Play.tm and it was good to catch up with him. Also, I had an entertaining chat with Jonny about a number of interesting topics. He freelances for MacWorld, an excellent online publication for everything Apple related.
I recorded most of the media on my N95 but I’m having a few difficulties editing and uploading the media. The media is over 448MB. I’ve managed to compress the file to a reasonable 40MB, however, both FaceBook and YouTube do not allow users to upload media that’s over 20minutes long. If anyone has any suggestions for decent, free media editing software for Mac’s, then please post your suggestion in the comment box below.
I haven’t had much time over the past couple of weeks to get online or update my blog. This is mainly due to moving to Chelsea and preparing for a trip. Shortly after I moved, I went for a walk around the area and photo-blogged the sights. It’s nice having the river Thames just across the road
I’ll be traveling to the Big Apple tomorrow afternoon. Not sure if I’ll have access to the internet but if I do, I’ll upload pictures when I can. Also, not long until I go home to Vancouver, Canada. If anyone wants to meet up for a drink, now is the time… just give me a call.
In about an hour I’m going to jump on the tube and head over to the o2. The Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaoh exhibit opens today and I’ve got tickets. It should be an interesting exhibit. Are you going or planning to go?
I just received an email newsletter from Sierra Entertainment about the new Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem game for the PSP. The new game is going to be released in November and the movie is due to be released December in North America. The movie will hit UK cinemas in early January 2008. I’ll most likely go watch Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem at the cinema while I’m visiting my family in Vancouver.
2008 looks like it will be an interesting year for movies with Batman: The Dark Knight and Ironman hitting the big screen.
I received a copy of TimeShift on Tuesday. Once you get used to the time shifting abilities, the game is a lot of fun. I’m currently making my way through Act 4 and at times the game can be a little frustrating but if you use the correct time shift ability at the right time, then it’s possible to save yourself from a bullet in the head… I’ve not had a chance to try out TimeShift’s multi-player but I’ve heard a number of good things about it. If I can, I’ll try out the MP later on today and let you know what I think of it.
