Jon, the organiser of CentraLAN UK just sent me word of CLUK 18. The LAN is taking place at the end of October. There are a number of cool activities planned for the LAN and there will be a Hog roast on the Saturday evening. You can find out more via this forum post.
I attended CLUK 16 with World in Conflict a few months ago and it was awesome event. If you can attend, showcase or just want to watch what’s going on… you won’t be disappointed!
BTW Jon: 1 – 1
The World in Conflict beta is coming to an end. It is not long until the game is officially released and from the feedback I’ve received from the WiC community, fans, it looks like World in Conflict will do extremely well.

That’s me obliterating the tutorials battlefield.
The community is very pro-active and it is good to see a lot of people sharing their experiences. The official forums contain a huge amount of feedback but general there is really nothing negative. One cool thing is that the community is sharing experiences with each other and one way they’re doing this is by creating in-game videos. You can view some of the videos via the MassGate forums.
Ok, time to game. See you on the battlefield!
Ross is hosting a MASSIVE competition. They’ve got loads of cool goodies to give away. You can find out more via XboxElite.co.uk
Started watching the news via LiveLeak.com a few days ago, the site hosts a lot of media that is not really covered by the BBC or CNN. LiveLeak.com is similar to YouTube.com. So, has anyone tuned in and watched the news?
I went to see Transformers: The Movie and it was pretty good. I’m not going to give away anything about the plot of the movie because if you’re a fan of Transformers you should go watch the movie. I’ve heard a few rumors that there is a second Transformers movie already in the works. Thankfully the movie wasn’t as bad as the video game…

I had a really good meeting yesterday afternoon. It was due to take place in Paddington but at the last minute we met up at Piccadilly Circus. We ended up having our lunch and meeting in a swanky restaurant called Momo Restro. I highly recommend dinning at this venue because the food was superb. The menu was expensive but well worth it.
Thanks Suz @ Activision.
I was reading Robert Scoble’s blog via my N95 RSS reader and I noticed an interesting fact - there are now over 17,000 Microsoft employees signed up to Facebook. Bill Gates, Ray Ozzie and Steve Ballmer all have profiles. If you type the following keywords into google “Is Microsoft buying Facebook?” you’ll get hundreds, if not thousands of news posts covering this news. Apparently, Microsoft is going to buy Facebook for $6Billion dollars. If this does turn out to true then it would be quite interesting for the numerous Live gadgets and widgets because you’d be able to add those types of apps to your Facebook profile.
Microsoft’s Xbox 360 platform is the biggest social network around TV and has 7million subscribers to Xbox Live but the company hasn’t revealed how many of those accounts are actually, active. Acquiring Facebook could and would be beneficial to Microsoft’s portfolio but I’m surprised they haven’t developed upon MSN or Live to create their own social networking platform. So, I guess the question of the day would be if Microsoft brought Facebook would you carry on using it?
I know a few people that are currently developing, launching and/or running social networks for the video games market but what strikes me is that none of them have a good understanding about social networking. It is all fine and dandy creating a social network of online usage but why are they ignoring mobile users? If they carry on ignoring mobile users then they do so at their peril as well as their profit margins.
If it’s raining, windy or sunny I cannot watch anything via Sky TV. The following pictures represent the image quality of my Sky TV service:

Great isn’t it? And the other thing is you can’t swap over to Cable TV or whatever it is called because they don’t have any decent channels like Sky One. I’m so bored right now, it is unreal.
The folks over at WiCHQ are hosting a World in Conflict tournament later on this week. If you’re playing the beta and want to show off your skills, then sign up for the tournament. WiCHQ have a number of great prizes to give away!
I hit another milestone. Finally reached 18,000 points playing a range of games and I’ve started playing Gears of War again. Currently working my way through the campaign on insane difficultly and some sections of the game are not that tricky. GoW is a lot of fun but I’ll be waiting until the end of August before downloading the new maps.
