To Chertsey and beyond!

Filed under: Xbox 360, PS3, Games, PSP, DS, Book of Games, gameXplore — Duke @ 11:48 pm

I was out of the office most of today as I had a meeting with Ubisoft. It was my first time down to their new offices but where they’re based is practically in the middle of nowhere. Chertsey looks like a nice place but it just seems like its one long road with shops and that’s about it. Nice properties though.

Anyhoo, I went to see Ubisoft about V2 of the book and I’m very pleased with the outcome. It was good to see Chris 3ast0n on his home turf and he showed me some really cool titles Ubisoft is releasing later this year. Jam Sessions looks awesome as does Assassins Creed, Haze and the ‘Games for Everyone’ titles.

Oh yeh, when I walked into Ubisoft’s offices I saw King Kong’s twin brother… the other twin is in my back garden.

Free* Wi-Fi access in central London

Filed under: Mobile, Technology, PSP, DS — Duke @ 6:14 pm

The City of London Corporation and The Cloud have launched Europe’s most advanced Wi-Fi network in central London today. This is pretty good because if you own a Wi-Fi device like a Mobile, PDA, Laptop, PSP or even a DS you can gain access to The Clouds network whilst walking around central London, neat. You can find out more about this via the official press release or read about it on the BBC’s website.

(* Wi-Fi access is free for the first month).

It’s all lite

Filed under: Games, Mobile, PSP, DS — Duke @ 9:02 pm

So I finally gave into temptation and picked up a DS lite. I already own a DS and PSP but I just couldn’t resist a black DS lite along with the New Super Mario Bros game.

Handheld gaming on the go, I think so!

Pro-G to provide video games content to ntl Telewest’s blueyonder portal

London, England, May 18 2006: Pro-G Media is delighted to announce that it has signed a content agreement with ntl Telewest to supply the blueyonder.co.uk portal with video game news, reviews, previews, and multimedia assets, syndicated from Pro-G (www.pro-g.co.uk).

As well as featuring Pro-G’s premium content, blueyonder’s re-launched gaming channel also offers an exclusive guide for new and intermediate gamers to get the most out of their systems. The channel will be continually promoted throughout the portal, and to celebrate the re-launch, an Xbox 360 with games was given away courtesy of GAME.net.

Pro-G is one of the UK’s fastest growing online publications, and this deal will significantly increase the reach of its content.

The content agreement follows the successful re-launch of Pro-G on March 28, which introduced a fresh new look as well as new community features, expanded offerings for readers including a large cheats database, and a range of new marketing services for advertisers.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with blueyonder.co.uk and we look forward to helping develop the portal’s gaming channel,” said Adam McCann, Pro-G’s Director of Operations. “The Pro-G team has been very busy over the past few months and this is one of many exciting announcements to be made in 2006.”

Adrian Watkins, ntl Telewest’s Ecommerce and Partner Manager added “blueyonder has always been a brand synonymous with gaming, and this partnership with Pro-G revitalises that focus, with a range of fantastic content on offer.”

The gamer’s encyclopaedia

Filed under: Xbox 360, PS3, Games, Technology, PSP, Digital Lifestyle, Computing, DS — Duke @ 1:07 am

I’ve had my eye on The Game Innovation Database (GIDb) web site for sometime now and it’s good to see the site has been recognised by the BBC. The GIDb is basically an online encyclopaedia containing vast amounts of information about the history of gaming and loads more cool game related facts.

It seems like the site is experiencing a lot of traffic from the BBC articles, which I guess is cool for the owners of GIDb but sucks for those trying to view the site. Anyway, here is the site url: http://www.gameinnovation.org – check it out when you can.
