Canuck Trip

Filed under: Holidays, Canuck — Duke @ 10:58 am

It’s about to turn 2am (10am GMT) and I’m about to crash for the evening. I just wanted to whack up a post to keep you updated on my trip. As you may have guessed by now, I’m currently in Chilliwack, Canada and I’m having a great time.

It has snowed a lot over the past couple of days and we’re getting a mixture of rain with the snow - that’s not a pleasant experience if your walking around because the freezing rain can turn you numb. It is always a good idea to wear multiple items of clothing to keep warm.

Anyhoo, I’ve created a personalized google map, so you can view the various areas of British Columbia that I’m visiting in real time.

I’ll be updating the map with the day’s adventures when I get home in the evening. While I’m here, the internet is a low priority for me because I’m spending time with family that I haven’t seen in a while. However, I’ll be blogging, uploading pictures and video as and when I can.

A couple of activities I’ve got planned are as follows:

Hiking up Chilliwack Mountain, Cultus Lake and Teapot Hill.
Skiing and snowboarding.
Driving a truck around a mountain.
Will be making Snowmen and women based on some of the people I know in the UK - stay tuned for pictures, they’ll be great!

I’ve uploaded a short video that you can watch on Facebook or YouTube. Also, I’ve already uploaded a few photo’s from the vast collection of photographic data that’s consuming my Mac’s hard drive… in time, I’ll get everything online.

Alrightly, time for bed.

New Years Resolutions…

Filed under: Gatherings, Holidays — Duke @ 10:59 pm

Here are my New Years resolutions for 2008:

  • Give up smoking.
  • Give up candy so I don’t end up looking like Jabba the Hut once I’ve given up smoking.
  • Cut down on alcohol.
  • Save more of my UK based income.
  • Design, research and look into building my own home.

We’re going down to the River Thames to watch the firework display for New Years Eve, it should be fun. I just hope it doesn’t rain.

Happy New Year folks!

A champagne fuelled Christmas

Filed under: Holidays — Duke @ 6:58 pm

Its Christmas Eve and a time to be festive. We’re about to pop the corks on the champagne and have a merry time. As its Christmas Eve I thought I’d list some of my most memorable moments of the year.

January: Finished decorating my house, hosted an Xbox House Party and travelling to Nova Scotia.
February: Travelling to Malmo, Sweden to meet with Massive Entertainment.
March: Working with Vivendi Games as a community manager for World in Conflict.
April: Travelled to Oslo, Norway and travelling to Hamer to attended The Gathering.
May: Providing a platform for a gaming team to excel in the world of E-Sports.
June: Attending CentraLAN 16 and Dreamhack.
July: Having fun in Nottingham and switching to Apple Mac.
August: Attending i31 as I turned 31.
September: Upgraded to HD.
October: Attending VideoGamesLive and upgraded to OS X Leopard.
November: Visiting the Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs exhibit with my mother, and going to New York for Christmas shopping.
December: Connecting with business leaders in Silicon Valley.

OK, no more monitor/screen burn. I won’t be spending the Christmas holiday online so there won’t be any blog updates until Thursday.

Time for champagne, have a great Christmas.

Away

Filed under: Holidays — Duke @ 2:40 pm

I’ll be back on the 25th November. I’ll have very limited access to the internet. If there is anything urgent, call me or send me an email and I’ll try to respond as quickly as possible.

F.A.O. Wayne: I’m in your neck of the woods for the next week, give me a shout so we can go for a beer or three…

o2

Filed under: Holidays — Duke @ 2:06 pm

I haven’t had much time over the past couple of weeks to get online or update my blog. This is mainly due to moving to Chelsea and preparing for a trip. Shortly after I moved, I went for a walk around the area and photo-blogged the sights. It’s nice having the river Thames just across the road :)

I’ll be traveling to the Big Apple tomorrow afternoon. Not sure if I’ll have access to the internet but if I do, I’ll upload pictures when I can. Also, not long until I go home to Vancouver, Canada. If anyone wants to meet up for a drink, now is the time… just give me a call.

In about an hour I’m going to jump on the tube and head over to the o2. The  Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaoh exhibit opens today and I’ve got tickets. It should be an interesting exhibit. Are you going or planning to go?

Going to Vancouver in December…

Filed under: Holidays — Duke @ 9:28 pm

I was due to fly over to Oslo on Friday but due to a few commitments I’ll be staying in the UK for a little while longer. I decided to take a brief respite from my busy work schedule and I’m going to Vancouver, Canada in December. I’ve just got to check a few things with one of my UK clients but if all goes to plan December and January will be spent chilling out by Cultus Lake :)

My sisters gone to Cuba…

Filed under: Family, Holidays — Duke @ 4:27 pm

My sister and her boyfriend travelled to Cuba on Tuesday. Looks like the weather is similar to the UK at the moment but thankfully there are no hurricane warning’s. I hope they’re having fun and they bring me back some Havana cigars!
